International Activities

Michael Mulholland-Licht teaches in Europe each year and this year will teach in Brazil. Michael was President of the World Osteopathic Health Organisation, WOHO, 2002-2008.

Aim of WOHO

  • To promote, develop, protect and establish throughout the world, the study, knowledge, philosophy and practice of osteopathy its application and research for the benefit of the peoples of all nations;
  • To ensure the minimum standard of education and training for safe and competent practise of osteopathy while promoting the highest possible standards;
  • To foster excellence in osteopathic health care for the benefit and well being of patients

A major project of WOHO has been to work with the World Health Organisation, WHO, in developing International education guidelines for osteopathy.

Michael currently represents the Australian Osteopathic Association internationally and is a Board Member of the Osteopathic International Alliance (OIA).

As osteopathy in Australia moves from state based regulation to Federal regulation the Australian Osteopathic Council (AOC) is the body that oversees accreditation of university programs teaching osteopathy and assessment of overseas trained osteopaths wishing to practice in Australia.  Michael is currently Chair of the AOC Board of Management.
